There are primarily two types of diabetes:

  1. **Type 1 Diabetes**: This type of diabetes occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. As a result, the body is unable to produce insulin, leading to high blood sugar levels.
